YOTS Gaming Nights

Updated: May 15, 2020

What started as just a one off night to show a few kids a Playstation Virtual Reality Headset, quickly became a weekly gaming tournament. We had a lot of fun shooting computer virus in Super Hot VR, learned "how to job" in Job Simulator, and got completely terrified shooting killer clowns on the roller coaster in Rush of Blood. However, after a few weeks of bringing in a PS4 and a VR headset another youth brought in his Nintendo Switch and the kids set up their own Super Smash Bros tournament, and it was a hit. After the Smash Bros tournament the kids kept bringing in games that they could have a tournament with. They brought in games like Mario Party, Mortal Kombat, Justice League, Mario Cart, and Soul CallibarVII. It was fun to see how they set up the rules and created their own methods of sharing time on the games, whether it was "pass it on after you die" or "winner gets to keep going" it was nice to watch them compromise and compete with each other. We plan to have many tournament nights in the future .
